Text Message Terms of Service

Effective date: August 6, 2026.

1. Program description

Desert View Family Medicine uses text messaging to communicate with patients for purposes such as appointment reminders, billing notifications, and care coordination. Messages may also include appointment scheduling and confirmations, pre-visit instructions and check-in links, prescription and refill notifications, laboratory and referral coordination, chronic care management and remote patient monitoring outreach, preventive care and recall reminders, and practice notifications such as office closures. Messages are sent by Desert View Family Medicine, PLLC and are delivered through our messaging service provider.

2. Your consent is voluntary

You are not required to opt in as a condition of receiving care. Participation is voluntary. However, opting out may prevent us from sending you timely updates regarding your care. Your consent to receive text messages is not a condition of purchasing any goods or services. You may continue to receive appointment and account information by telephone, by mail, or through our patient portal.

3. Message frequency

Message frequency may vary.

4. Cost

Message and data rates may apply.

5. Carrier liability

Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

6. Security and protected health information

Text messages sent via SMS and RCS channels are not fully secure and may not be HIPAA-compliant; however, we take reasonable precautions to safeguard your privacy by restricting the content of these messages to non-sensitive notifications. Any messages containing detailed Protected Health Information (PHI) will be sent via a separate, secure messaging channel. Messages may be visible on your device’s lock screen or to anyone with access to your device, and may be retained by your wireless carrier. If you do not want messages sent to a particular number, do not provide that number to us, or ask us to use a different method of contact.

7. How to opt out

You may opt out of receiving text messages at any time by replying “STOP.” You will receive a final confirmation text to verify you have opted out. No further messages will be sent. If you would like to rejoin, you can authorize us to restart by texting “START.” We also honor the replies QUIT, END, CANCEL, UNSUBSCRIBE, REVOKE, and OPT OUT, and you may opt out by any other reasonable means, including by calling our office at (480) 324-0300 or by telling any member of our staff at your visit.

8. How to get help

For help, reply “HELP” or contact us at (480) 324-0300 and/or dsalvatierra@desertviewfamilymedicine.com.

9. Eligibility and your responsibilities

By providing a mobile number and opting in, you confirm that you are the subscriber or the customary user of that number and that you are authorized to consent to receive messages at it. If your mobile number changes, or you no longer use a number you gave us, you agree to notify us promptly at (480) 324-0300 so that messages intended for you are not sent to another person.

10. Not for emergencies

Text messaging is not monitored continuously and must not be used to report a medical emergency or an urgent clinical concern. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911. For urgent clinical questions, call our office at (480) 324-0300.

11. Supported carriers

Messages are supported on major U.S. wireless carriers. Carrier participation may change without notice, and carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
